Lem Nath Case:
The court has recently announced that they will release their judgement on her case on the 31st of January. Strey Khmer will be attending, along with her lawyer from LICADHO.
Beer Garden Rape Case:
Although we have contacted the court multiple times seeking more information, we have still heard nothing. They have said the processing period is 6 months, so we cannot make a complaint for more information until that time has passed. We will continue to follow-up and keep everyone posted on any new information.
Currently we are working with other organizations in town to be a part of an event, where students, MPs, NGO workers and the general public will be invited to discuss and debate the current situation in Cambodia regarding rape cases and gender-based violence. We will be selling tickets shortly, and will post through here information on how to attend. Check back for more details.
Global Fund for Women:
Yesterday, January 5th, we had a wonderful meeting with a representative from Global Fund for Women to discuss our currently funded projects and to receive advice on how we can improve our projects and reach more individuals in need. We are very grateful to have had this opportunity and hope to continue working with GFW for many years to come!
We are currently collaborating with partner organizations to draft a concept note for the UNIFEM Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. We are excited about the prospect of working with other strong women-focused organizations and hope good things will come of this!
