SKO Welcomes Cecilia Wikstrom of the European Parliament

On 18th May 2011, Ms. Cecilia Wikström a member of European Parliament from Sweden visited with protestors at Boeung Kok Lake. Boeung Kok protestors have struggled since 2008 and have been violated by both the Government and Companies which buy their land from Government. After discussion with the villagers, she expressed her deep concern about forced evictions and Human Rights abuses, violations especially of women’s rights. She said she will bring this matter to attention when she meets with important individuals in Cambodia as well as in The European Parliament.

The people at Boeung Kok Lake have raised all of their concerns related to this eviction and wish the government will have a fair deal for them.
